Jahrhunderts.

"All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal than others."
One night, on an English farm, Major the boar recounts his vision of a utopia where his fellow creatures own the land along with the means of production and are no longer the slaves of humans. Before long, his dream comes true and for a short while all animals are really equal. But the clever pigs educate themselves and soon learn how to extend their own power, inevitably at the expense of the rest of the community. This well-loved tale is, of course, a satire on the Soviet Communist system which still remains a powerful warning despite the changers in world politics since Animal Farm was first published. This production is based on Orwell's own radio version which was first produced in 1947.
"Animal Farm" is a dystopian novella in the form of an allegory by George Orwell. Published in England on 17 August 1945, the book reflects events leading up to and during the Stalin era before World War II. Orwell, a democratic socialist and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many years, was a critic of Joseph Stalin and was suspicious of Moscow-directed Stalinism after his experiences with the NKVD during the Spanish Civil War. In a letter to Yvonne Davet, Orwell described Animal Farm as his novel "contre Stalin". The original title was "Animal Farm: A Fairy Story", but A Fairy Story was dropped by the US publishers for its 1946 publication. Of all the translations during Orwell's lifetime, only Telugu kept the original title. Other variations in the title include: A Satire and A Contemporary Satire. Orwell suggested for the French translation the title Union des républiques socialistes animales, recalling the French name of the Soviet Union, Union des républiques socialistes soviétiques, and which abbreviates URSA, which means "bear" in Latin

Inhalt: George Orwell's picture of a world in which personal freedom is denied, where lies replace truth and where resistance is punished by torture, is one of the most powerful satires ever written. When Winston Smith rebels against the authority of Big Brother and his treachery is uncovered, he must be made to suffer the consequences.
